Every once in a while – I can’t figure out if it’s years, months, weeks, or possibly even days – someone apparently calls a meeting to dream up new “buzzwords” to replace the old ones we’ve been using up until that time.
Example: “reaching out”. What ever happened to simply “contacting” someone? That’s pretty straightforward. Why do we have to call it something else now? I don’t “reach out” to my friends and colleagues – I “call” them, or “write to” them, or (amazingly) “visit with” them. Show of hands – anyone remember those?
Dang, this world is getting stupider and stupider every day. Yes, I said “stupider” on purpose. We have euphemisms for euphemisms OF euphemisms now. How many more layers do we need? Plain, straightforward and clear language is what I use and also appreciate from others.
So please, don’t speak to me in “buzzwords”. Me no speaka, so sorry. Goodbye.
