From the article:
“The Department of Homeland Security makes fake Twitter and Facebook profiles for the specific purpose of scanning the networks for ‘sensitive’ words – and tracking people who use them.
Simply using a word or phrase from the DHS’s ‘watch’ list could mean that spies from the government read your posts, investigate your account, and attempt to identify you from it, according to an online privacy group.”
This doesn’t really surprise me, but I don’t know what good it will do them. They may decide to track someone for using the word “d**ll”, and find out he/she is simply an ordinary, harmless private citizen who thinks the US should stop importing and go domestic (for example, the popular phrase ‘D**ll, Baby, D**ll!”).
I’d say it would be embarrassing, but government no longer seems capable of being embarrassed.
